Claire’s Headband

Bridal Headband TanzyClaire looked stunning in her Tanzy headband which complimented her classic look.  Claire wed Andy in Nissi Bay, Cyprus and has the pleasure of wearing her whole outfit all over again for their UK party later this week.

“I just wanted to say a very special thank you for my gorgeous headband, it matched exactly with the detail on my dress. I couldn’t have found anything nicer.
Your service was exceptional, from ordering right through to delivery, I would highly recommend you to any brides.
Once again thank you for helping with my special day”.

It’s that time of year!

Well it seems the wedding season is truly upon us. My orders have definitely gone up in the last few weeks and I am beavering away making headbands, combs and jewellery for many a lovely bride.

I am particularly enjoying the bespoke creations; making something individual for a bride is very satisfying (and can be very challenging also). I find it very rewarding when brides like what I have interpreted as their design ideal. It sometimes may take more than one attempt when something is unusual but I am a determined creature and will do my best to get it right.

If you would like to talk to me about a bespoke creation for a bridal headband, vintage headband, bridal comb or whatever else please give me a call to discuss your ideas on the number at the top right of the Ivory Tuesday home page or alternatively send me an email through the contacts section (top right of the main menu).

I hope to talk to you about your ideas very soon, in the meantime, happy perusing lovely ladies!

Swarovski Elements Bridal Headbands

I thought I would let you know that I have started to design headbands incorperating Swarovski Elements. I have had these designs in my head (and indeed on paper) for some time but finding the right components to actually create these designs has been a process that has taken over a year! Today I am happy to report the delivery of the first batch of these jewellery elements so that I can finally make a start to these creations.

These components will enable me to make more vintage looking diamante-type headbands, combs and also a range of jewellery within my modern range.

Already using the Swarovski crystal beads within my designs means I am well accqainted with the quality of the brand and I am ready to get stuck in.  Watch this space!

Jane and Paolo’s Wedding

Congratulations to Jane and Paolo Boscolo(-Ryan) who were married Sunday 19th February.  It was a cosy affair with close friends and family with the reception at Jane’s parents, North Wales home.  Jane wore a very pale purple tea-length dress with Faux fur wrap.  Jane’s Bridal Comb was made to compliment the tones in her coloured gown using Amethyst Swarovski crystal beads, Aurora Borealis Swarovski crystal beads and ivory freshwater pearls.  As the bride knew nothing of the comb I felt very lucky that she liked it!  I think she looks very ‘Hollywood’.

“I just wanted to write a quick note to say thanks so much for the lovely hair slide that you made for my wedding.  It was perfect and looked great with the dress I was wearing.  I was completely surprised and very moved! ”

New Bridal Headwear Designs Photography Shoot

Here are the pictures from the December Ivory Tuesday photo shoot.  There are five new pieces plus some shots of vintage one-off designs.Bridal Headband

Kellie Bridal Headband

Kellie Birdcage Veil

Here I am ‘tweaking’ the ‘Kellie’ birdcage veil into perfection on the ever-smiling Sundas.

This piece was inspired by the movie ‘Singing in the Rain’ (which incidentally I watched again over Christmas following the shoot).  For those of you who haven’t seen the 1950’s film it’s a musical set in the twenties around the time talking films were first being produced.  I just love the 1920’s styling and watching it made me want to re-create something in that period but with a modern edge. I think it works well with the strong make-up, Marcel Wave hairstyling and close-fitting dress.  If the 1920’s look is your thing but you don’t want something as statement as this piece then why not have a look at the ‘Cat’s Meow’ haircomb.

1920's inspired Birdcage Veil

Two of the bridal headbands in the shoot (Elegance and Amelie) have a soft bohemian look, made using lace, fabric and/or  feathers in tones of cream and ivory, featuring lots of layering to keep the look very handmade.  Also used were fabric flowers, Swarovski crystals and freshwater pearls still keeping the look ‘bridal’.  These designs offer a more versatile use and could go well with more modern wedding gowns as well as a little vintage number, additionally with the bohemian element they would look great on loose, wavy hair styles, great for all you festival brides.

With the shoot being in December I thought it best not to subject the girls to the weather (even though it was unusually mild for the time of year).  It was raining as it often does in Manchester!  So we made good with the studio shots again this time.  I was still very pleased with the results but I am planning on doing some reccy work for a location for our next shoot in the Springtime.

I had great fun doing the shoot and would like to thank my models Sundas and Stephanie for their hard work.  I would like to thank Adam Craig from Peewee’s Hair Salon in Manchester for the wonderful ‘dos’ (boy do I challenge that man’s patience with my ideas) and John Wilson from Northern Quarter Studios for the studio use and the glamorous images.  Last but definitely not least thank you to Jodie Clough for the make-up.  Jodie was only two weeks from her due date of giving birth at the time and I’m pleased to say that about a week later she had a beautiful baby boy (I think it may have had something to do with the many flights of stairs at the studio!)  Congratulations to Jodie and her partner, Paul.
